Hire a Mediator Instead
My friend was recently going through a pretty bad divorce. Her husband was a good man, but he was also a very powerful man. He believed that he couldn’t let go of their marriage without a fight because it would make him look bad to his co-workers and friends. So, he hired a Sacramento divorce lawyer and fought for more custody of the children, more than 50% of the marital possessions, and other such things. It was a mess and expensive too. Well, as sometimes happens, my husband and I started thinking about divorce as well. However, we didn’t want the same problems that their divorce caused. Then I read the article, “Valuable Mediation in Divorce” and knew that mediation was the way to go. Our estate was divided according to our wishes and we talked through much of our problems. Actually, we didn’t end up getting a divorce after all, but I still tease him that the coffee tables are mine.
