Irresistible Peruvian Desserts

I like my cup of coffee dark and strong. I think it is a perfect match for Alfajores cookies from Peru. I really like this dessert which showcases another race that had influenced Peruvian Cuisine, that is Arabic. Two layers of this oven baked pastry is filled with “manjar blanco” or a caramel-colored creamy filling made with milk and sugar. I like having this pair during a Sunday morning brunch. Aside from Alfajores, I really fell for Caramel flan! I know I have to keep track of that “calories” daily but can’t it just cooperate for awhile? Desserts are sinfully delicious but just like what my granny says, “there’s always tomorrow”. So calorie count would just have to wait until tomorrow for the delightful satisfaction I feel towards these desserts is now or never.
