The Emmy Awards

The Emmy Awards, simply referred to as Emmy, is a television production award that is focused on various sectors of the television that covers programming, documentary shows, news and sports. The first Emmy was presented on January 25, 1949 solely to honor shows produced and aired on the local Los Angeles area. The first of this Emmy went to Shirley Dinsdale for the Most Outstanding Television Personality. Later, it was expanded to a national event in the 50s with separate shows and ceremonies being established. The primetime Emmy Awards for example, are presented as recognition to American primetime television programming and are broadcast in rotation among CBS, ABC, NBC and FOX networks.
