Reducing tummy fat by dieting AND working out

Excess tummy fat is a big problem for many people in the United States. A large part of people’s diets consists of high calorie food, mostly made up of carbohydrates and fat. Unfortunately, to be able to get rid of tummy fat you need to completely change such diet.

One of the main components of a healthy diet is fiber. A high fiber diet plan helps you reduce bad cholesterol and also achieve a feeling of fullness, which is important when you are on a calorie deficit.

But perhaps the most important change in a diet, if you are to achieve weight loss and lose tummy fat, is to skew the nutrient composition towards more proteins. All diets should include proteins equivalent to at least 1 gram per pound of body weight. This means that if you weigh 200 pounds you should include 200 grams of protein in your diet. If you are on a calorie deficit, consuming 2000 calories per day, than 800 of those calories should come from proteins. This is important so that you do not lose weight from muscle loss.

Of course, working out should also be part of every plan to reduce body fat. If you only diet, your body will only receive half of the potential health benefits that doing both a diet and work out can give you.
