Phantom of the Opera – Longest Running Musical In Broadway History
The Phantom of the Opera is probably the most commercially successful musical of all time, having had sales upward of $5 billion! Composer and writer, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, broke the New York Broday record by beating out another hit musical that he wrote — “Cats”.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to see Phantom, do yourself a favor and find a theater and catch a performance! If you’re in the New York area, it’s still playing on Broadway. And there is a spectacular version playing at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas!
Andrew Lloyd Webber is no stranger when it comes to writing hit musicals. He started young, and had his first hit: “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in 1968, when he was only 20.
The Phantom of the Opera was first performed in London’s West End in 1986, and it is quickly approaching it’s 25-year anniversary! At any given moment, Phantom is being performed on stages around the globe, as well as New York, London and Las Vegas.
With its enormous popularity, it is not surprising that the Phantom of the Opera mask and Phantom of the Opera costume are still hot selling items year after year, and especially around Halloween time.
