Hundreds Of Indians Gather for 15th Annual Pow Wow

The steady pounding of the drum beat and songs of grand ceremony pulsated through the Pechanga Pow Wow grounds as dancers from Yankee Indian tribes from everywhere across the United States came to celebrate their culture and tradition.

Pechanga’s fifteenth annual Pow Wow drew tons of visitors for the busiest day of the three-day event. More than 100 vendors sold cultural foods, Indian jewellry and clothing and other products like dream catchers.

The day began with the Gourd Dance, where head dancers and singers shook gourd rattles to the steady beat of a big drum and honored tribe elders and young men.

Later, the Grand Entry brought in more than four hundred dancers wearing elaborate regalia to fill the arena and commence varied dance and drumming contests.

A fireworks show was planned to finish the day’s festivities, but an awards ceremony will officially end the celebration nowadays at 5 p.m.

Head Southern Man Saginaw Grant, 74, from the Sac and Fox tribe, in the Great State of Oklahoma (Sooner territory), danced in an intricately designed red, beaded outfit with a feathered headdress throughout the Gourd Dance. As an elder member, Grant said the dance is an expression of keeping the culture alive.

There was a time when reality TV jobs was charming and novel. Up until then, TV had been all about fiction, imagination and fantasy. The idea to broadcast life as it is was an interesting notion. But slowly the elements of fiction began to creep in—footage was rearranged, parts left out, situations construed to heighten drama, and slowly but surely reality TV started to resemble its fictional counterpart.

Granted, it’s not like reality TV started from the top and plummeted downhill. It was more like a low up to a high, and then down to an all time low. Early reality TV show contestants revealed that what was televised was significantly different than what had actually occurred, and to this day it’s a situation that probably still occurs. However, some new reality TV shows that came after were less contrived and even inspirational. There’s no denying the skills of contestants on America’s Got Talent or America’s Best Dance Crew, and it’s moving to see where these people are coming from and how they’re coming closer to achieving their dreams and getting their acting jobs.

Maybe part of the reason new reality TV isn’t feeling so new is because many of them are just sequels of series that have been airing way past the first season. And reality TV has taken an extremely dark, ugly turn with the recent controversy of Jon and Kate Plus 8, rumored to become Kate Plus 8. The entire nation has been following their acrimonious divorce, taking sides but mostly expressing disgust over the entire situation and sympathizing with their kids. I have experimented over the years with numerous different brush types and mainly choose to use flats and filberts of varying sizes. My paint brush selection mainly consists of No.2, No.5, and No.10 Filberts and No2, No5, and No10 Flats, which are all made from hog hair, which is very strong, flexible and great to use with oil paints.

Paint Palette
You will see every artist using one of these if you are not familiar with the term! The artists palette is basically the surface that you will use to layout and mix all your colours on. There are a variety of different artist’s palettes available. They can be made from wood,plastic or glass and come in a variety of shapes. I usually use a palette made from wood, however you will need to seal it first as the wood is porous. This is very easy to do. All you need is some linsead oil or mineral oil and then wipe the surface of your palette to coat the surface. Wipe off any excess oil and you’re ready to get started!
