My First Look At Google

Thankfully I know a number of tech savvy friends who invited me to geek-out a little today on Google right before it reached capacity. It is probably a fantastic sign. Probably they expanded way faster than estimated. (Some say they’re causing a strain on the web)….

It is looking really exciting already. My initial responses are that the ability to segment contacts nicely (applying ‘circles’) and examine segmented streams will probably be a huge hit. On Facebook I did not get the right balance between friends, family, business friends, business clients and project partner. In Google I’m able to stream them and group them to be a cluster. They label this ‘circles’.

Another cool feature will be the interaction of Google . Now they have merged Chat, Video, e-mail contacts, pictures, Youtube etc… all integrated into just one social scene. It makes me think Skype and GoToMeeting might be slightly nervous.

Sparks (odd name) looks like the advertising and marketing / data profiling / content platform.

It’s only a day and I am still discovering. I’ll publish more about this as we progress about this Google review. So Far I’m pleased. I wonder if this will turn Facebook into a Myspace? More internet marketing reviews here.
